California panel gives OK to new Yolo County prison

WOODLAND, California - A state prison panel says Yolo County can pursue its bid for a small prison near the rural town of Madison.
Thursday's vote by the Corrections Standards Authority is a setback for Madison residents who say the flood-prone area is no place to build a prison.
Yolo County is seeking $30 million in jail construction funds from the state to build a re-entry prison intended to rehabilitate inmates.
