Escaped prisoner may have walked away because of medication

PLEASANT PRAIRIE — The father of escaped prisoner Nicholas A. Sabala III is worried that a medication his son had been taking might have been the reason he walked away from his work release program site Tuesday.“People might think I’m just sticking up for him because he’s my son,” Nick Sabala Jr. said. “I know he was wrong. The law is the law. But nobody in their right mind who’s been (incarcerated) for almost nine years and only has months to go would want to get in trouble again.”Sabala III, who is from Racine, was imprisoned at Kenosha Correctional Center, a minimum security institution with a work release program.
