Federal jury awards prison inmate $185,000

PITTSBURGH - A state prison inmate has been awarded $185,000 by a federal jury in a lawsuit in which he claimed officials at Pittsburgh's prison improperly took and destroyed his legal papers. Twenty-six-year-old Andre Jacobs represented himself in the trial that ended Monday. He named a dozen defendants and the jury found in his favor against two guards and a spokeswoman who work or had worked at State Correctional Institution Pittsburgh. More...
