Escaped inmate captured after overnight manhunt

Sebring, FL -- An inmate with just five weeks left on his six-month sentence is back behind bars, after escaping from an inmate work program near the Highlands County Landfill.

According to sherriff's office investigators, 26-year-old Zachary Wayne Korzep, walked off the job around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday from an area where inmates grow vegetables and jumped into a car driven by his girlfriend.

The escape sparked a massive overnight manhunt, including K-9 deputies and a helicopter. Officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were also called in to assist in the search.

Deputies say they were unable to locate Korzep until they received an anonymous tip that led them to a neighborhood in Lake Placid. More...    PrisonerPal.com
