Six Department of Corrections employees, including two from Trenton and one from Ewing, have been indicted and suspended without pay in connection with the alleged beating of an inmate at New Jersey State Prison last fall.
Sgt. Kevin Newsom, 46, of Ewing; Sgt. Lorenzo Foster, 46, of Southampton, Pa.; and corrections officers Effrain Gonzalez, 29, of Trenton; Derrick Smith, 44, of Trenton; Kevin McEady, 48, of Camden; and Damian Albanese, 33, of Manahawkin have been indicted on charges of official misconduct.
