Inmate attacks officer, killed

Choctaw County Coroner Keith Coleman confirmed late Wednesday that a fugitive was dead following a pursuit that began after police said the inmate overpowered an Ackerman police officer and stole her cruiser at gunpoint.

Ackerman Police Chief Tanya Burton said around 3:30 p.m. Winston/Choctaw County inmate Bobby Fair, 27, attacked a police officer as he was on his way into the courtroom. Officials said he held a gun to her head while she unlocked his chains.

"When it was all said and done, he had her service weapon and gun belt, cellphone, taser and the patrol car," Burton said.  More
