1 dead in prison fight in Leflore Co.

GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — One inmate is dead and two others remained hospitalized Thursday after a disturbance at the privately-run Delta Correctional Facility in Leflore County.

The prison remained on lockdown Thursday. No one is being allowed into the facility.

The Nashville-based Corrections Corporation of America said the prison remained on lockdown on Thursday while the state and local investigation continued.

CCA spokesman Steve Owen told The Associated Press that six inmates were hurt Wednesday night in the fight at the prison. He said one was treated at the prison while five others were taken to nearby hospitals.
