Inmate injures 3 prison officers at Clallam Bay

A 35-year-old convicted killer injured three correctional officers at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center on Saturday night after he refused to return to his cell, the state Department of Corrections said.

Department spokesman Chad Lewis said the incident, involving Steven M. Eggers, who is serving a life sentence for a 1996 first-degree-murder conviction in Snohomish County, began just before 7 p.m.

Instructed to leave a common area and return to his cell, Eggers threatened correctional officers working on the unit floor, stripped off his shirt and "took a posture like he was ready to fight," Lewis said. When other officers arrived to help, Eggers punched one officer in the nose; two others suffered cuts and bruises as they secured the unit, Lewis said. The three officers, one of whom also received a knee injury, were treated at the prison.  More    PrisonerPal.com   True Crime Today  Magazine Subscriptions for Prisoners since 1975
