Prosecutors get reports on prison brutality claims
HAGERSTOWN - Maryland State Police investigators have given prosecutors in Allegany and Washington counties their reports on prison brutality claims that led to the firing of 23 correctional officers in April, authorities said today. Washington County State's Attorney Charles P. Strong and Allegany County State's Attorney Michael O. Twigg said they will review the reports before deciding how to proceed. Their options: Take no action, file criminal charges, present evidence to their counties' respective grand juries or name a special prosecutor from another jurisdiction for cases that cross county lines.
