LAPORTE, Ind. — Northern Indiana officials say a jail inmate who died after suffering a seizure behind bars had swallowed a bag of cocaine hours before to hide it from officers who arrested him on a drunken driving charge.
The Times of Munster reports that 37-year-old Roy E. Young of Michigan City died Saturday at a local hospital after suffering a seizure at the LaPorte County Jail in LaPorte. The county coroner says a bag of cocaine was found in Young's intestines during an autopsy.
WSBT-TV reports the autopsy showed Young died from a cardiac arrhythmia brought on by a drug overdose and that his death was ruled an accident. More...
