Escaped prisoners recaptured outside Rochester

SODUS, N.Y. — Two men who escaped from a Rochester jail have been recaptured after a week on the run.

A task force led by federal marshals found the missing prisoners early Friday evening.

Officials told the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper that the pair had been hiding out at a trailer home in Sodus, about 30 miles west of the city.

Joseph Mitchell and Eddie Palmer escaped from the Monroe County Jail on March 31 by sawing through a bar on a 2nd story window.  More...
