Jail nurse accused of having sexual relations with inmate accused of murder

Authorities have arrested a nurse accused of performing oral sex on a Charleston County jail inmate awaiting trial on a murder charge.

Charleston County sheriff's investigators charged Angela Marie Smith, 33, of Bonneau with first degree sexual misconduct with an inmate. A magistrate set her bail at $25,000.

Smith was working as a contract nurse at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center on May 28 when a corrections officer caught her in the act with an inmate, according to an affidavit released Friday.
