Inmate accused of triggering fire alarm at Lincoln County Jail

MERRILL — A 22-year-old Tomahawk man faces criminal charges after he was accused of breaking a fire sprinkler in his Lincoln County Jail cell Saturday and caused the jail’s fire alarm to go off, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

Police were called at about 7:10 p.m. Saturday to a report of a disturbance at a home on Hay Creek Lane in the town of Wilson, according to a news release. Brandon M. Kallerud was found injured at the home, he declined medical treatment and was taken to jail on charges of battery and disorderly conduct, police said.

Kallerud was placed in a holding cell, but he took the sprinkler head off the ceiling of his cell and water flowed from the ceiling, according to the news release. The water triggered the jail’s fire alarm system, police said.  More
