MAURICE RIVER -- A fire damaged part of a maintenance building at Bayside State Prison in Leesburg.
Deirdre Fedkenheuer, spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections, said staff noticed smoke in a maintenance building and called authorities at 12:40 a.m. Saturday. The building was at the prison's farm area, not the main compound, she said.
No staff or inmates were hurt in the fire, Fedkenheuer said. A portion of the roof collapsed, and there is also some smoke and water damage, she said. More... PrisonerPal.com
